Indoor 8am Communion Service

Sullivan’s Island Historic Church

Organ lead music and traditional Rite I liturgy.

We are no longer requiring reservation for this service.

These requirements for reopening the church for worship are based upon the Diocesan guidelines issued by the Bishop, as well as the recommendations from the CDC and federal and local governments. Our aim is to provide a safe environment for all worshipers by minimizing close physical interactions.

For your safety and for the well-being of others, PLEASE DO NOT COME TO CHURCH if you have a fever or severe cough, feel ill, or have been in recent contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, or if a medical condition makes it impossible for you to wear a mask. Masks are not optional.

Guidelines for those attending worship in-person are as follows:

  • Holy Cross will initially offer one in-person worship service at 9:00 am at both our Sullivan’s Island and Daniel Island campuses.

  • Due to social distancing guidelines that reduce maximum occupancy to about 30% reservations will be required. When it becomes apparent that we have met our space capacity over the course of several weeks, we will seek to offer additional in-person services.

  • Everyone is welcome. The elderly and chronically ill are strongly encouraged to worship online with us from the safety of their homes.

  • Clergy, lay ministers, and members of the congregation must be masked, per the protocol from Bishop Lawrence. Clergy will wear masks except when speaking during the service. Vocalists will also wear masks except while singing. Clear plexiglas shields have been installed in front of pulpits and vocalists to provide increased protection.

  • No paper bulletins will be issued. The service liturgy will be on the screens.

  • Entrance will be through the courtyard main door at SI and the 1/2 circle main door at DI only.

  • Sanitize your hands with the provided hand sanitizers before entering the sanctuary or when coming and going to the restrooms.

  • Ushers will seat parishioners in preset seating to accommodate family units beginning on the left side of each space and filling in toward the right. Please do not go to your “regular” spot as the chairs will be configured to meet safety protocols.

  • Members of the same household may be seated together; however, social distancing must be maintained with other congregants.

  • Family units must enter the church at the same time to be seated together.

  • Please place your offering in the baskets near the doors as you enter or exit. Alternatively, you may continue to mail your check to the church office or give online at our website.

  • Restrooms: Please use the center doors of the Great Hall (SI) to use the restrooms and the doors near the kitchen of the Parish Hall (DI). Please use hand gel entering and exiting the restrooms. Only two men or two women allowed in respective restrooms at a time. Children must be accompanied by an adult to the restrooms.

  • Exiting will be led by clergy and ushers from the right of the buildings to the left. Please follow exit signs as directed and maintain 6-foot distancing, when dismissed.

  • Please refrain from shaking hands, hugging, or touching anyone who is not part of your immediate family.

  • Please refrain from gathering after the service. If you would like to talk or fellowship with others following the service, please do so outside or in the parking lot and maintain social distance.
