We have an opportunity to serve those in need in Charleston on Saturday November 17th when we’ll partner with St. John’s Anglican church to provide thanksgiving meals to about 1000 people (500 meals for people at Hampstead Mall Playground/Park on 68 Columbus Street and 500 meals for the elderly and homebound in Charleston’s Eastside area). Come out and serve meals, paint faces, play with kids on jump castles, pray for those in need, speak to people who could use some kindness and love, and/or help with the cleanup of it all. Come for all or part. Festivities begin at 11:30am and end about 3pm.


PARK SETUP at 8:00AM

  • Contact David Lawson  240-413-3676

  •  Load Park Equipment at St. John’s & Agape Ministries

  • 8:30am Unload Truck & Set –up at Philip Simmons Park (68 Columbus St).  

  • Cleaning Park and Re-Loading equipment will begin at 3:15pm

PACKERS/DRIVERS FOR ELDERLY & HOMEBOUND – Location: ST JOHN’S CHAPEL:

8:30am – Meet at St. John’s

  • Packers/Drivers (at St. John's) - pack/deliver containers  (must pack 300 meals) & 2-3 Delivery Drivers needed (prefer that the driver is accompanied by someone)

Deliveries will be made to Joseph Floyd Manor and the Canterbury House

Volunteers Packing at St. John's will need to enter through gate at 52 Amherst Street to access the church's parking lot.    

VOLUNTEERS AND ALL QUESTIONS:

11:00am Check in at the park house with Jessie Jeffcoat & Dorian Nixon for directions, etc. You will be directed on which of the following areas need the most support) --- Meet at Philip Simmons Park

  • Servers (must be 16+) - serve dinners and fellowship with attendees at Philip Simmons Park 

Children’s Center 9:00am SETUP

  • Play Peer Mentors - note: Under 16 with Adults -- supervise and interact with children (Jump Castles)

  • Children  Activities – Face Painter needed… Please contact asap

Cleaning Teams 11:30am – 4pm  Meet at Philip Simmons Park

  • Cleaning Teams - at Philip Simmons Park -keep grounds clean during/after the event 

PRAYER TEAM: If anyone is interested in being on the prayer team please let Jessie or Dorian know as soon as possible.
