Confirmation is the sacramental rite in which we express a mature commitment to Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, and receive the infilling of the Holy Spirit through the laying on of hands by a Bishop who had hands laid upon him by other Bishops who had hands laid upon them, in direct succession all the way back to the original twelve Apostles.
At Confirmation, we "confirm" the vows made for us by our sponsors who baptized us as children. We also renew the covenant our parents and godparents made on our behalf as we publicly promise to follow Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.
On November 7th, the Right Reverend Mark Lawrence will make his final annual visit to Holy Cross as our Bishop for a service of Confirmation. At that time he will also receive those persons who have already made adult professions of faith in other Christian traditions (including those confirmed in other traditions) who desire to become part of the Anglican Church. If you are interested in being confirmed or received, click here to RSVP and plan to join us for a Confirmation class on Wednesday, November 3rd.
