The Need:
There are currently 4,359 children in foster care in South Carolina and only 2,825 licensed foster families. Locally the need is for more than 200 foster parents. These children need a temporary home while their birth families are working towards goals that prepare them to be reunified with their children. The need for licensed foster families is apparent in the disparate numbers of children needing placement and the number of available families to care for them. The lack of equipped and supported homes results in children being placed in overcrowded homes or in institutions where their unique needs cannot be met with excellence. They need to know that God created them; that they have value; and that there is great hope in Christ.

Lifeline’s Mission:
Lifeline’s foster parenting ministry exists to extend the grace, compassion and love of Jesus Christ to children and birth families in the foster care system. We believe that every child placement is a unique opportunity to minister to the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of that child, and in many cases, his birth family. Lifeline believes that a child’s needs are best met under the guidance of Christian foster parents who can ensure the safety, well-being and development of children during a time of great uncertainty. Our desire is to help lessen the burden of child welfare agencies to recruit more foster families by partnering with local churches to recruit, train, and support these families. Lifeline desires to partner with families who are called to share the hope found in Christ with both the children in care as well as their birth families.

Please join us for a foster care orientation! We will talk through Lifeline's model of foster care, the statistics of kids in care, and what the licensing training class looks like. Attending orientation does not commit you to classes, but is a required prerequisite to attending the trainings which are held all over the Charleston area.
